Computers

I have a love/hate relationship with computers.  I like fooling with them and mastering a piece of software.  What I don’t like is having to figure out how to fix a problem that a so-called Microsoft Certified Technician didn’t or couldn’t take care of.  What made me realize I had made a huge mistake in letting this guy work on my lap top was when he called and asked how I got the lap top to use the full screen.  I wasn’t entirely sure what he was talking about, but when I powered it up yesterday, I saw right away.  The windows desk top was only using half of the available screen space (low resolution).  It didn’t take long for this noncertified Microsoft Technician to figure out that the idiot wiped out my hard drive, reinstalled his copy of Windows XP (which will expire in less than 30 days) and didn’t reinstall the drivers.

So, I spent a good part of yesterday figuring out what drivers I needed and reinstalling them and I just managed to get the wireless card working.  Hallelujah!!!!!!

Now I need to figure out what I’m going to do as far as a lap top is concerned … I would really rather continue to use my desk top, but it’s simply too hot in this office to run the computer.  I am quite sure that the reason why the lap top went belly up was due to heat.

Until later …
