It’s going to be another period of horribly hot weather with no rain until maybe Saturday. It took me forever to water everyone. I spent a good deal of time in the garden picking tomatoes. They are not doing so well. The biggest problem is the darned tomato cages. I’ve used these cages in the past and you’d think I would have learned my lesson, but I didn’t. They will be disposed of used for something else once the tomatoes are gone. I have about eight small plants in a bed which I will use stakes and string to keep up and several volunteers along the fence line which I’ve tied up to the fence. Next year we’ll plant them in beds and use stakes and string or cattle panels to keep them up. Cattle panels are expensive, but I think they are they are the way to go.
Kishi goes to her new home today. The homesteading family that I mentioned a few days ago is going to take her. I’m glad. Now I can focus solely on Mica. Seeing how well mannered Bella is makes me realize how ill-mannered the two puppies who stayed here are. Bella has turned into a bit of a wimpy city dog, but she’s very sweet. They have done really well with her. She’s still on raw and unvaccinated. The cool thing is, this entire litter will remain that way until they are 12 weeks old, at which point, they’ll get one parvo shot (except Mica) and then receive a rabies shot when they are older.
I need to head out in a little while to get my license renewed. I’m late in doing it and would rather stay home and not do it today. When I get back, I’ll need to process and can the huge batch of tomatoes I got out of the garden.
I best get going.
Until later …
