It feels funny to be sitting here at 7:30 AM with no where to go or to be. I can just sort of hang around. Even though I did just this for such a long time, it feels funny now. As always, I’m having a hard time adapting to the time change. The time falling back is easier on me than springing forward, but it’s still hard. I haven’t changed the clock on the DVD player and last night, when it said that it was almost 8:00 my internal clock was saying time to go to bed. Really, it was almost 7:00. I went to bed anyway and slept most of the night. I guess I needed it.
Last night, I cooked up some pork sausage, onions and garlic and when that I was cooked through, I added arugula. It was yummy, but the next time we have pigs done, I am going to have the meat ground with no spices added. Sometimes the sausage meat is good, other times, it’s too spicy (for me). I want to experiment with other sausage seasonings and to take advantage or organic spices whenever I can. We sold the two pigs we bought recently. Getting scraps at MM was not always working out well for me and quite frankly, I didn’t feel comfortable feeding them pizza scraps, especially since they often contained meat. We’ll wait until the goats freshen and then get more pigs and feed them milk and whey. I still bring home vegetable scraps and the goats, cows and chickens are happy to eat those scraps.
I have things I’d really like to get done today, such as, cleaning the house and maybe it will get done, but maybe not. Laundry, which needs to get done. I want to get another bed of lettuce and greens planted. I want to ride Trophy and see if I can pony Al Bin off him. If it works out here, I’ll try to take him elsewhere for a ride.
It’s going to be a lovely day with highs in the low 70’s. It will be a good day to open up the house and enjoy the warmth. It’s actually going to be lovely all week. Glad it’s warming up. It got too cold, too fast.
The landlord came by yesterday evening to take some large stones off the property up to the Christmas Tree Farm to make a fire pit. This will be the first year since it’s opened that we won’t be a part of the festivities. Actually, we haven’t had much contact with the landlord or his family and neighbors in a long, long time and quite frankly, I don’t miss it. It’s sort of nice now to have a small circle of friends that I stay in contact and spend time with and avoiding those people that trouble me. While working at the Christmas Tree Farm was kind of fun and I enjoyed sharing my dogs and animals, I always felt like an outsider. Best to focus on the things that help Wally and I stay healthy and happy and stay away from the rest.
I know what else I’d like to work on today is the Spellcast Farm web site.
Wonder what I’ll end up doing. Right now I’m going to have another cup of coffee, make some breakfast and see how I feel after that.
Until later …
