Last night, I went to make yogurt using my Piima Culture and discovered I ate the last of it!!!!! Luckily, I had some of it set aside in the freezer. I’m slowly heating some cream to re-culture it and will return a back-up to the freezer. I went ahead and bought another culture from Moonwise just in case. I love this culture!
Occasionally I go on Facebook and look at what’s going on there. It’s kind of funny that I found this post this morning right after I sucked cream off the top of Gwen’s milk to re-culture the Piima. Who knows what’s really going on in a container of commercial milk … probably stuff I don’t want to know about. I am so, so, so glad I don’t have to buy much meat from the grocery store. The further along we get in this process, the less I want to buy anything from commercial channels.
Pigs: darned I really don’t want to raise more pigs, but I don’t want to buy pork in the grocery store so I think I’m going to have to convince Wally that we need to raise a couple more pigs and to get them relatively soon while we still have plenty of milk coming in from Gwen and while I’m getting lots of restaurant scraps to feed them.
Oh, it’s time to go to work.
