I skimmed a half gallon of cream off two gallons of milk this morning and now it’s sitting on the counter top to sour so we can make more butter. I also have a large batch of cheese to package up and a half gallon of buttermilk ready to go.
Last night, I made two simple, spreadable goat cheese flavors. One is garlic and the other garlic and sun dried tomato. I added both to pasta with arugula and some grilled chicken and we had a wonderful meal. We had to buy a new gas grill this past weekend. The one I’ve had for several years died quite a while back. It was really too hot to grill outside over the summer, but we’ve both missed grilled meat. Tonight I have out some steaks from our first Jersey bull, Buster, to go on the grill. Looking forward to that!
Wally and I went to bed at 8:00 last night. It was wonderful. I slept most of the night and the times I did wake up were minimal and I dozed off back to sleep in short order. We both woke feeling very rested and perky. I told Wally we need to do that more often.
I’ve caught about eight roosters, there’s at least five more to catch. They are wily creatures, very difficult to catch. I just barely caught another one this morning; I just barely got hold of him and almost couldn’t hold on to him. The lady with the White Orphingtons can’t catch her chickens so I couldn’t go and get them yesterday. Eventually she’ll catch them.
Yesterday afternoon, I set up a sprinkler system in the garden which will make watering the beds a lot easier. I simply don’t have time to stand there and water the beds.
Haven’t heard anything further on Ace. I’m on the fence about whether I want her to bring him back or not. We’ll see what happens.
I best get out to milk, etc.
Until later …
