Well …

My attempt at getting my Monday through Friday, less-one-day, hours back backfired.  The new schedule was posted when I got in this morning and I only had three days (down from four).  I talked to the General Manager about it and well, lunches are slow and they can’t keep too many people on the clock so since I haven’t been cross trained on the front line as is the other prep lady, who was cross trained when she was hired, gets a slow week day that I don’t get because I can’t fill in on the front line (or so they think).  Damn.  I told him then fine, put me back on my regular schedule, but by the time I left, I don’t know if he did that or not.

I think about all my past cushy jobs where I was able to goof off, surf the Internet, write articles and books, etc. and get away with it.  Here I am at a job where I work my ass off 99 percent of the time I’m there and I do not get recognized for my efforts.  Something is wrong, seriously wrong with the job market.  That I’ve been with this restaurant since it opened, have worked my butt off doesn’t matter.  It doesn’t matter that I walk behind many of the other employees and clean up their messes, remove their empty boxes and containers from the walk-in, etc.

Until later …
