It was brutal. I’m so glad Wally went with me for moral support; but if nothing else to drive me there because I don’t know what would have happened if I drove myself. The GM of MM tried digging up all sorts of dirt on me, but thank goodness none of it was valid. Checked the ESC web site around 5:00 PM last night and the following was posted:
Result: The previous determination will be reversed. The official decision will explain any change in benefits. Note that if benefits were previously denied, a reversal may result in benefits being paid in some circumstances. A separate official decision with the specific eligibility conditions will be provided as soon as possible.
It appears that I won. I’m waiting on verification from the woman I am friendly with at the local office. I believe the gibberish after the first two sentences is just formal language because not everyone would be eligible for benefits. As I told the judge in my closing statement: it isn’t about the unemployment that I was unable to get, although living on no income for two months was really hard, it was the difficulty that I experienced in getting a new job because of the termination. I didn’t say this, but not to mention that if the decision held, I wouldn’t be able to collect unemployment for two years going forward.
That is a major relief. Now I can close the door on that part of my life and move on.
Until later …
