I wrote to the market manager for the Downtown Hickory Farmers’ Market this morning and let her know that we would not be able to attend the Thursday evening market. Wally and I were both looking forward to the idea of going, but when we stopped and thought about what we’d have to do to get there, we decided that it simply was not going to work out.
We try to keep our cows on a strict milking schedule. In order to go to the market, we’d have to have them milked by 4 PM which is throwing them off by a minimum of two hours; plus, I would not be able to milk them 12 hours later (4 AM Friday) which would throw them off even more.
Really, because of the cows, we do not do anything during the evenings but do chores, eat supper and watch a bit of television. We are tied to the farm seven days a week during milking time.
Also, my math assignments are due on Mondays and Thursdays. If we went to the market, a good bit of Thursday would be taken up getting ready for the market. Math is kicking my butt, big time! I have assignments due today that are still giving me a hard time. I am hoping if I can get through today, I can start tomorrow doing a section a day. The teacher told me it would take me a couple of hours a day to keep up. For me, it’s more than a couple of hours.
I have not been feeling well the past few days. I believe it is stress-related. Between last week dealing with the bull, the math class and worrying about attending the Thursday market, etc., etc.
I need to calm down, approach the math with a different mindset and hope that it will all be okay.
Until later …
